Recipe to make GLUTEN 面筋 (vegetarian 素食)

Suddenly thought of encouraging or giving him ideas to make Gluten 🙂 , a vegetarian ingredient that can be made to dishes with that chewy texture :p

Found a less then 10min youtube video and showed him. He watched 😀

Too bad, there was no instructions, but luckily the people spoke in Cantonese – I guess there’s familarity and got him watched on 🙂

Next found a written recipe:

After showing dad, I was curiosity of how recipe in English would teach/explain. . . And I now learn this is called WHEAT GLUTEN or noodle/dough tendon hmm

Gosh, the site comes with explanation and pictures! So helpful 🙂

http://m.wikihow.com/Make-Wheat-Gluten

Here’s its recipe :

500 grams (about 4 cups) of flour
1 teaspoon of salt
Water
Oil for deep frying
Use a strong bread flour if possible as it contains more gluten.

Ohhh it is also called seitan,  wonder if this is Chinese translation???? This site says more…

Personally, I always find it funny to associate vegetarian stuff as mock meat  SIGHHHHH Guess it is a phase many of us may have to get through. Well, if one is willing to start substituting or cut down on meat, this is a good start 🙂

A desire is a desire. Guess instead of fighting head on miserably and with burdened effort, guess SHIFT, give it time to shift 🙂 The lovely, understanding, patient ones have always been so for me. I to learn and make my being so too? 🙂 🙂 🙂

Love
